Every summer on holiday, Dad would individually take each of us boys out for an evening. It was a chance to chat or just be together. If we were by the sea, we’d inevitably end up at the arcade (as much for him as for us I suspect!) I think it also reflected the happiest parts of his childhood, heading to places like Cleethorpes. One of his favourite places was Barry’s in Port Rush, Northern Ireland. According to Dad they made ‘the best candy floss in the world’.
