I feel cocooned In this small world On the edge of what I can’t hope to take in Help me see As eyes grow dim The great expanse that lies beyond this veil so thin As the tears flow May your grace flood in Show me what Lies just beyond The chariots of fire that line the hills around me Prise my fingers From this world Fill my eyes with him who holds me safe and sound As the tears flow Take me to my home It feels so close What I spoke about When yesterday it seemed a million miles away I hear a voice Soft and sweet Is it really you the one that I’m about to see? As the tears flow Take me in your arms I’ll hear you speak my name For I am yours And you are mine I’ll hear you speak my name For I am yours And you are mine I’ll hear you speak my name Well done good and faithful one Welcome home my son I’ll hear you speak my name Well done good and faithful one Welcome home my son Welcome home

It’s not right It shouldn’t be Someone I loved A part of me Taken too soon No longer here Suddenly wrenched Replaced by fear But I know it’ll all come clear in the end And this hell it cannot last All will be transformed, a moment’ry thing But this long shadow is cast And I can’t see the light I know you wept And have felt the pain The loss and the hurt Of death’s dark frame There is some peace To know there’s a place Of no more tears Where all is grace But I cannot stand bearing this weight Is it your hand that crushes my soul I know that in time death faces us all But you know it’s not right Won’t you show me the light Show me the light Show me the light Show me the light
3.
So much was planned Not to come true Not to come true So much prepared Not to be used Not to be used But I’ll laugh through the tears And I’ll walk through the fears And I’ll live in the face of death But it’s so hard to sing When there are no words Take any inch of my life It’s coloured by you Coloured by you I try to hold on But each memory of love Is a reminder of loss But I’ll laugh through the tears And I’ll walk through the fears And I’ll live in the face of death But it’s so hard to sing When there are no words When there are no words I want to cry out But nothing will form So all that’s left is love With nowhere to go With nowhere With nowhere to go So I’ll laugh So I’ll laugh So I’ll laugh through these tears And I’ll run through these fears And I’ll try to live in the face of death But it’s so hard to sing It’s so hard to sing When there are no When there are no When there are no words

Speak Softly 03:14
It’s ok to cry dear heart It’s ok to find you’re lost It’s ok to wonder how many bridges You can cross It’s ok to weep From the depth of your soul It’s ok to not know how in the world You can go on So I will cry And ask the Lord why He has to take, so precious a one And leave me behind So I will cry And ask the Lord why Oh, I do believe, but I cannot see Speak softly to me It’s ok to sit my dear And have cried all your tears It’s ok to feel numb and cold And stare out your fears It’s ok to not feel whole With your life ripped apart It’s ok to know there’s hope But not to feel it in your heart So I will cry And ask the Lord why He has to take, so precious a one And leave me behind So I will cry And ask the Lord why Oh, I do believe, but I cannot see Speak softly to me I know there’s hope in his wounds But mine still bleed Speak softly to me May his tears mix with mine It won’t always be Speak softly to me

Speak to me of your memories Speak his name don’t hide it from me You can’t suddenly remind me he’s gone As if I could forget my sad song You may not know What to say But neither do I You may not know What to do But I need you to stay Right here So come sit with me And we’ll laugh together Come sing with me
And we’ll cry with each other Come sit with me And we’ll laugh together Come sing with me
And we’ll cry in each other’s arms I know there are no more memories to make But there’s a storehouse that we can raid You’ve stories to tell that I don’t have I want to hear it all, I want to cry and laugh Don’t leave me here On my own I cannot steer this boat alone But with two hands Your hand in mine We can surely make it home We can surely make it home So come sit with me And we’ll laugh together Come sing with me
And we’ll cry with each other Come sit with me And we’ll laugh together Come sing with me
And we’ll cry in each other’s arms

1. Put the penny in the slot
 See where it falls
You’re gonna win One of these days
 Hand me that rifle kid
See how it’s done
I’ll shoot all those cans
Like it’s John Wayne’s gun

It’s just you and me son Tonight on the town
I’m all yours ’Til the sun goes down Let’s go to Barry’s
Take a turn on the cars
They got the best candy floss in the world Oooo They got the best candy floss in the world 2. So take me back To when I was young Haunting The penny arcade Yogi bear hat
Six shooter gun Riding my steed But my steed would never run
It’s just you and me son Tonight on the town
I’m all yours Til the sun goes down Let’s go to Barry’s
Take a turn on the cars Climb the helter skelter We’ll be touching the stars
They got the best candy floss in the world Oooo They got the best candy floss in the world 3. When it’s you and your son Out on the town Give him your time As the sun goes down Climb the helter skelter Show him the stars Head back to Barry’s
Take a turn on the cars
‘Cos when it was just you and me There on the town
I was all yours ’Til the sun went down
 Round the helter skelter
Under the stars We made the sweetest
 Memories there
Oooooo It was the best candy floss in the world Don’t forget it was the best candy floss in the world
7.
Goodnight to the old year You brought me so much pain But I know the seed will never grow Without the pouring rain So goodnight to the old year Maybe one day I will see How the troubles and the tears Were watering the seed So goodnight Goodnight Goodnight to the old year So goodnight Goodnight Goodnight to the old year Goodnight to the old year As the darkness gathers in But I know it’s in the darkness That the stars will shine again So goodnight to the old year I’ll squint with both my eyes And maybe I will see The blessing where it lies So goodnight Goodnight Goodnight to the old year So goodnight Goodnight Goodnight to the old year
8.
I’d like to tell you But I can’t I’d like to share These thoughts with you I’d like to tell you But I can’t And that thought Just broke my heart I’d like to see you But I can’t I’d like to hold your Hand in mine I’d like to see you But I can’t And that thought Just broke my heart I’d like to tell you And I will I’d like to walk those Streets with you I’d like to see you And I will For one day I will see your face again And we’ll look upon the Son Together And we’ll look upon the Son Forever And we’ll look upon the Son
9.
There’s an empty chair Across from me That’s only filled With memories There’s an empty chair That tells a tale Of love grown in time That now seems so pale I can still hear your laughter But the silence of it screams I can still see your smile But the walls stare back at me Is there a light we cannot see? Is there a mist surrounding me So tell me where these memories go? Is there a final tale to be told Is there a light we cannot see There’s an empty chair Where others will rest Am I the only one Who can see the ghost There’s an empty chair That ends a line While all else moves on I feel paused in time Chorus Bridge There’s another empty chair In a far, far land I’ll join you at the table You will take me by the hand For this world is just a rumour Of a gathering so bright Empty chairs are but a whisper For waiting there is all the light All the light we could not see There is a light that we will see Gone will be the mist surrounding me And that is where the memories go There is a final tale to be told There is the light waiting for me

The Tree 03:45
Who will tune my ears To the sounds unheard The glorious barrage of beauty Unbounded from the earth As I walk through that gate
Who will shade my eyes As the world explodes In extraordinary light I will go to the tree By the sparkling stream That gives life to all Who shelter underneath I will trace my hands Through the wooden ravins Feel the stories woven deep
All the joys and all the pains Every tear and every laugh Their purpose revealed Every tear, every rip Every broken heart is healed I’ll see trepid feet approach Wide eyed wondrous belief With trembling hands out cupped For they’re ready to receive
And I’ll see the Father’s smile And feel his warm embrace I will know that I am loved I will know that I am safe No more night, No more pain Blows my mind, shakes my frame And it sends through me pure shivers of joy
And it sends through me pure shivers of joy
And it sends through me pure shivers of joy And it sends through me pure shivers of joy And it sends through me pure shivers of joy And it blows my fears away

about

An album honestly exploring grief and hope in light of my father's death in November 2021. In the tradition of the psalms these songs sit with loss for longer than we're often comfortable with, but desperately need to. All the while the rays of gospel hope break through the prism of tears.

I hope this album will not only tell my story, but be a voice for others, a way for them to explore their own loss and find hope.
