I started writing this song before Dad died. After the diagnosis Dad’s vision became more and more fixed on eternity and I started scribbling down the little things he was saying here and there.

We talked about how thin the veil is between this world and the next, between heaven and earth. But it is a veil - we’re so blind to it. Yet it’s just there. Elisha’s servant just needed his eyes opening to see that they were surrounded by chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17). They hadn’t suddenly appeared - they were always there, but veiled.

As Dad got closer to death, that veil was getting ever thinner, until early in the morning of 23rd November 2021 Dad stepped through that veil. He closed his eyes in death and opened them to see Jesus himself.
